I have achieved the Caerphilly Childminder Quality Standard Award aimed at promoting higher quality childcare.

My Service

I provide small-scale home based childcare. My home is a detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac with a private encosed rear garden. I am different from a childcare centre or nursery because i am limited in the number of children that i can care for at any one given time. By staying small i am able to provide the quality care and nurturing atmosphere that your child deserves with the added benefit of a homelike enviroment. My Childminding Service is not a preschool, but i do offer an informal theme based pre-school programme. Children participate in a full range of activities such as free play, cooking, outside play, stories, dramatic play, creative arts, crafts and music. We also regulary attend both English and Welsh Toddler groups and a bilingual music and movement group. I have a framework of guidelines in the form of polices and procedures that show how i work. A full copy of these can be viewed when you visit my home, and is also provided within the parent pack issued should you decide to use my service.

Why Choose a Childminder?

  • Your child will be cared for by one childminder providing continuity of care. However i work closely with another childminding who is able to be back up childcare in case of emergency or when i may be ill, space permitting.
  • Childminders are able to be more flexible with hours, espicially valuable when parents work part time or unusual hours
  • Brothers and Sisters of all ages can be looked after together.
  • All registered childminders are inspected and DBS checked.
  • Childminders have the flexibility and ability to be spontanious with activities (e.g. to make the most of the weather) and also flexible around meal times and sleep times.
  • Children benefit from real life learning experiences such as cooking, shopping, gardening, outings to the local park and library, or simply curl up and take it easy if tired.
  • The Families, Children and Childcare study (FCCC) says that childminders are the next best thing to being at home with mother.
